| Some love stories are born to be legendary. Amidst heavy costumes and loaded dialogues, this period piece is essentially a doomed love story. Its about the promises, never fulfilled due to fate. Gulzar's graceful screen rendition is a heartfelt story of a deaf and mute couple played by Sanjeev Kumar and Jaya Bachchan. The film has the intensity of emotions that run high, thanks to their limitations in an indifferent society.
