Bridezillas, this one’s for you!

The traditional bride
bridal outfit. Get the picture? Some brides like to stick to their roots with just a whiff of modernism to the ensemble. Designer duo Shyamal and Bhumika dressed actor Esha Deol, at Lakme Fasion Week, in a lehanga choli that boasted of embellished velvet (yes, the fabric is back and how!) and was inspired by the Avadh era. And to keep up with the times, the dupatta was made of net. The duo even dressed Esha’s mommy, actor Hema Malini in a sari with a velvet pallu and front. So now that you know which fabric to indulge in for your big day, just remember the key rule — do not over-indulge in it.

The organic bride
Anita Dongre sought inspiration from the interiors of Rajasthan. She packaged it in a western avatar and used organic materials to capture the fantasy of an eco-friendly bride. Her showstopper, model Lisa Haydon, sashayed in a white lehaega choli, made of handcrafted natural organic white mull fabric and intricate embroidery to match.

The drama bride
Designer duo Parvesh and Jai used dabka, zari, semi-precious stones, resham, pearls and other elements to ensure that their bridal wear stood out. It is bound the catch the fancy of the typical ‘drama queen’ who wants to stand out on her big day. Imagine giant sized peacock motifs, bird sleeve motifs and peacock shoulder bands on your The traditional bride bridal outfit. Get the picture?

East meets West bride
It was Umrao Jaan meets Lady Gaga for Payal Singhal. So there were sleek pants in gold (a la Gaga) with tops whose shoulders were adorned with tear drop crystals (to please Umrao Jaan). Opulent necklines borrowed from the bygone era were teamed with outfits in French lace. Take a cue if you want some hot fusion in your wedding outfit.
