Attack police, lose passport: Top cop

Mumbai: Following the recent attacks on policemen, including the assaults during the Azad Maidan rioting, city police commissioner Satyapal Singh has issued a circular warning of strict action againstthose assailing policemen on duty.
    To begin with, the police will compile a list of such miscreants; the inventory will include an offender’s name, along with his photograph, fingerprints, details of his job and photocopies of his PAN card, driving licence, Aadhar card, passport and arms licence.
    As a punishment, recom
mendation would be made for the cancellation of theoffenders’ passports and the authorities would be asked not to renew documents, Singh said, adding that lookout notices for the offenders would also be put up at airports.
    The policewill also askthe authorities concerned to cancel their driving and even arms licences, a report of which will be forwarded to the special branch.
    The authorities will not give out police-verification certificates to accused seeking employment.
