baby boy stolen from Nowrosjee Wadia Maternity Hospital in Parel

‘Not moving from here until I get justice’
While there is no trace of the baby boy stolen from Nowrosjee Wadia Maternity Hospital in Parel, the blame game continues.
On Wednesday, Jasmine and Devdas Naik’s one-day-old baby was kidnapped from the from the hospital’s postpartum ward on the first floor.
Jasmine is due to be discharged in a week from the hospital. Devdas has threatened that they would not take Jasmine home until the baby is found. “It was the hospital’s responsibility to look after both mother and child. Their laxity has led to the baby’s kidnap. We are not moving out of this place until we get justice,” said Devdas.
Even as the police are probing if the kidnap was staged, the family has denied the allegations. Refuting that there was a marital discord, Jasmine said: “Devdas has treated me well. It is the police’s role to investigate into the matter. According to them everyone is suspect till the baby is found.”
Jasmine, who underwent a caesarean section surgery, blamed the doctors. “There was a shooting pain in the lower abdomine but the doctors and nurses asked me to walk. I told them I could not leave my baby alone but they refused to heed to my requests,” she said.
Hospital sources have hinted on a strong possibility of a squabble between Jasmine and Devdas’s family. “While the father is all agitated, threatening to burn himself and commit suicide, the mother is seemingly unaffected and cool. We suspect foul play,” said a senior nurse of the hospital.
The family is seeking help from every where. “We visited a baba in Bhandup who assured us that the baby will be returned to us within two days,” said a relative. Even after repeated efforts, the hospital’s CEO Bhoodev Sharma was unavailable for comment.
