Lightweight jewellery, gold coins are a hit

Lightweight jewellery, gold coins are a hit

Jewellers in the city have been busy since the last few weeks doling out exquisite collections for the festive season.
Cost effectiveness coupled with simple yet innovative designs is what they have incorporated in their designs this year. “With rising gold prices in the international market, customers are cautious in terms of buying,” says Rajiv Popley, director, Popley and Sons. Keeping this in mind, lightweight jewellery is the popular product at their store. “Thinner necklaces, rings and bangles are a big draw,” says Popley. He also added that the demand for gold coins has almost doubled this year as people are anticipating gold prices to rise further.
Keeping in mind modest budgets, stone-studded jewellery has emerged as another favourite. “Minimal gold is used. Colourful stone work, which comes at a fraction of the price, makes the piece look rich and elegant. Simple long chains, pendants and rings are in demand for Dhanteras,” said Kumar Jain of Umedmal Tilokchand Zaveri store. At Tribhovandas Bhimji Zaveri store, light necklaces and artistic products in gold, diamond and silver are the popular choices.
Because the festival is coinciding with the wedding season, exclusive bridal collections are also a big hit which include wedding rings, designer bangles, necklaces with intricate designs and waist belts. Kiran Dixit, spokesperson for TBZ said, “P people seek modernity with a tinge of tradition”.
Because Diwali and Dhanteras hold religious sentiments, temple jewellery is also being bought by many. Most stores are luring customers with attractive discounts on making charges.
