Seeking investment avenues in the state, a delegation comprising the ambassadors of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden met chief minister Prithviraj Chavan on Monday, evincing its interest in the development of ports, waterway transport, higher education, and the entertainment sector across the state. Stating that India and the Nordic countries enjoyed excellent relations, the CM said there was much they could do in Maharashtra, the leading investment destination in the country. “Developing ports along the state’s 720-km-long coast is as important a concern for the government as new roads and airports,” said the Chavan, while pointed out the excellent investment opportunities offered by Mihan, multi-nodal international cargo hub and airport at Nagpur. Chavan told the delegation that Bollywood was forever looking for new foreign locales and there were excellent opportunities for joint ventures here. And finally, the CM said there was a great demand for higher education, particularly in science and engineering, fields that the Nordic countries have a comparative advantage, and invited them to invest in the state. |
