Now, meet cops on Sundays for your complaints
| ||
When Arup Patnaik, Mumbai police commissioner, received this proposal from the DGP, he ordered his force to start a Grievances Redressal Day on every Sunday. “It will be like a mini RTI cell where people can get the answers to their queries,” said a senior police officer from the commissioner’s office. According to senior officers, all the investigation officers will have to be present in the police station from 10 am up to 11.30 am every Sunday and meet the complainants. Police stations have put up a board about the same so that people can meet the concerned investigation officers and know the status of their cases. In case the investigation officers are absent or if they fail to provide the required information, complainants can approach senior police inspectors at the police station. “The step has been taken in order to make information easily available to complainants, who will not feel the need to file an RTI,” added the officer. |
