Get your glowing skin back!

The heat is on! Experts reveal tips that can help you combat the ill-effects of the sun on your skin

November is here and so is the heating that it contributes, being the month of changeover. Post the monsoon showers and before chill winter steps in we face the blackening heat in this month. So how do we protect our skin from this soaring temperature? Worry not,  experts here find out ways to cool or soothe your skin...
Cosmetologist Sonal Mann says, "The November heat may also be referred to as transitional heat as we await the cool winds that winter brings us in the last two three months. People with sensitive skin, should avoid afternoon sunlight as the sunbeams are the hardest during this time. A thumb rule for one and all is to apply sunscreen at least half hour before stepping out and re-apply it after 5 hours. It's time to begin buttering your body with body lotions. Best is to begin from a very light body lotion. For example apply aloe-vera lotion twice a day as this would help in hydrating the skin."

Easy home-made packs for cooling skin:
- 10 almonds soaked and peeled and ground into a fine paste with milk. 1tsp glycerine. Mix both and apply on face• neck. Wash after five minutes with milk and then water.
- Mix lime and honey• apply after returning from outside. Grind five mint leaves, five tulsi leaves, two slices of cucumber and a slice of tomato. Apply the paste on face and neck and keep on for five minutes, avoiding the eye area. Wash off with cucumber juice, then water.
Naturopathy expert Roopa Shetty feels that only right care can soothe the skin. "Taking all the right steps will help in maintaining healthy skin. Heat can cause skin inflammation so using cucumber gel and washing the face (always with cold water) helps the skin cool off. Also, by doing these following things one can get a better skin tone and will soothe skin as well.
Apply buttermilk to skin, keep it for 10 minutes and wash it off.
To make a cooling skin toner, mix two teaspoonfuls of water-melon juice with 2 teaspoons of cucumber juice, apply it to the face and neck. Keep it on for 10 minutes and wash off with water. Mix two teaspoonfuls oats with two teaspoons curd, utilise to skin, keep it for 10 minutes, and then rinse with water.
