It has expanded at a fast pace with the addition of nearly 20,000 colleges and more than 8 million students in the last one decade. As of now we have 42 central universities, 275 state universities, 130 deemed universities, 90 private universities, 5 institutions established and functioning under the State Act, and 33 Institutes of National Importance. Other institutions include 33,000 colleges as Government degree colleges and private degree colleges, including 1800 exclusive women’s colleges. Some institutions of India such as the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), and Jawaharlal Nehru University have been globally acclaimed for their standard of education. Higher education in India has been undergoing continuous systemic changes. Conceptualization of its paradigms, patterns and perspectives is far from static. Change in its future shape is inevitable. Response to this change is one of the major concerns of higher education. Rajive Kumar is presently working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Education, N.A.S. College, Meerut. He obtained his M.Sc. (Physics), M.Phil. (Physics), B.Ed., M.Ed. and Ph.D. (Education) degrees from C.C.S. University, Meerut, India. He has cleared UGC-NET and UGC-SLET in Education. He has presented more than 40 papers in national and international conferences. He has published more than 20 research papers and articles in reputed peer reviewed journals. He has twelve years teaching experience at U.G. level and more than four years experience at P.G. level. Narendra Kumar is presently working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Education in S.G.P.G. College, Sarurpurkhurd, Meerut. He obtained his M.Sc. (Chemistry), B.Ed., M.Ed., M.Phil., and Ph.D. (Education) degrees from C.C.S. University, Meerut, India. He has cleared UGC-NET, UGC-SLET, UGC-JRF and UGC-SRF in Education. He has been awarded Ex President Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma Gold Medal. He has also been awarded Shikshak Ratan by G.V.G. Krishnamurthi in New Delhi. He has presented more than 50 papers in national and international conferences. He has published more than 30 research papers and articles in reputed peer reviewed journals. He has four years teaching experience at P.G. level and six years experience at U.G. level.
