After Dubai, Marathi film festival goes to London

After tasting success in Dubai, Marathi International Film and Theatre Awards (MIFTA) has decided to organise its event in London. It will be scheduled in September and actor Salman Khan is likely to attend this event. The three day event will be organised in Indigo 2 theatre in London. Last year, Amitabh Bachchan was the guest of honour for this event. The event will held between September 23 to 25. During this three day of event, they are planning to premier a Marathi movie and drama also.
The MIFTA has been organised on the lines of International Indian Film Academy (IIFA). The award function is the main ceremony which is scheduled on September 25, where awards will be given in different category of best film and best theatre, according to the organiser, Brihanmaharashtra Marathi Mandal a organisation base in London, who are also extending their support for this event. "We have contemplated adding more interesting events such as cricket matches between the marathi stars, to make this event more interesting and popular.," he said.
MIFTA is the brainchild of actor-director Mahesh Manjrekar, while taking to DNA, he said, "The aim of organising this event is to give the platform to the Marathi cinema and theatres and its related personalities. However, this is our second year, last time we got overwhelming response in Dubai. We are hopeful for the same response this year as well. This year, it is the first time that a Marathi movie 'Devul' will premier,".
He added, "We approached actor Salman Khan to attend the function. He is considering our invitation. He seems to be busy in his film shooting. If he gets time, he has ensured that he will come for the event." More than 300 Marathi cinema, serial and stage artistes are likely attend this event in London. Apart from the main artistes, technical field experts are also invited. Zee Television is the official media partner for this event.
