Be treated like a Nawab at this Hyderabadi food fest

If Hyderabadi Biriyani is the only delicacy you believe belongs to Hyderabad, then this food festival is surely for you. The Royal Rasoi Restaurant at Kharghar is hosting a Hyderabadi Food Festival from October 14 to 16, to give people a taste of the kind of fare Nawabs loved.
Come for dinner and enjoy a lavish buffet that includes some of the most famous delicacies to some of the rarest and unexplored food of Hyderabad. The aim of hosting this festival is to acquaint the people of Navi Mumbai with the variety being offered by the restaurant.
The restaurant has set up a special shamiana where they plan to cater to about 100 covers at a time. "Many people do not know much about Hyderabadi cuisine out here; there are a very few dishes that are known to people. Since Royal Rasoi is a multi-cuisine restaurant, we planned to introduce this wonderful taste to the people out here. We will try to give the best of Hyderabad to our guests, in terms of authentic flavour and hospitality. We will make sure our guests feel nothing less than those royal Nawabs," said Sunil Kumar, the business development manager of Royal Rasoi. The restaurant has brought two chefs from Hyderabad who will add their expertise and the distinct Hyderabadi touch to each and every dish.
There are plenty of items on the menu that many of us might not have even heard of. Their prepraration too is totally unlike anything every heard of. "Some dishes such as 'Salim ki boti', 'Gosht Falaknuma', 'Dahi ka shorba', 'Chowgra', 'Raan-e-Musallam', etc. have never been prepared or served here. But we are preparing all these dishes for the festival. In fact, people hardly know that Hyderabadi cuisine has some amazing preparations of fish and vegetables; leave alone chicken and mutton. Hence we have tried to include everything that is purely Hyderabadi and has never been tasted before," said Pramod Shankar, the restaurant's executive chef.

For desserts, there's the famous Khubani ka meetha, a dish made of dried apricots. This dessert is a common feature at Hyderabadi feasts and weddings and hence has a special mention in the menu.
The menu has everything — from soups to desserts. The restaurant had put together three different menus for the three days of the festival, which is why each of the three days will have something unique for the foodie. So, what are you waiting for? Get ready to enjoy your weekend in Nawabi style with this food festival in your neighbourhood.
