Storytelling at Ryan-Kharghar

"Story telling is an ideal means for bringing about a holistic all round development within children" storyteller-cum-scriptwriter Dave Arthur said. Hailing from London, the scriptwriter took a detour to visit Ryan International at Kharghar on Friday. He conducted a one-hour storytelling session for students.
Making narration interesting and enjoyable for students, Dave narrated stories using musical instruments and interactive props and kept children engrossed.
"Story telling might come across to be inconsequential, but it has an important role in molding a child's persona. Stories make life sensible for children and the morals that underlie each story are observed by them to be having relevance in their day to day life. Story telling is an activity that parents ought to incorporate in their interaction with children to prompt them to think and analyse the situations and concepts discussed as plots in a story," Dave said.
The hour-long storytelling session was held in association with the British Council. He aimed at striking a different image by narrating stories in a different style. Instead of merely reading out tales from story books, Dave Arthur infused a sense of vibrancy and energy by making it interactive and interesting.
"He narrated many stories with the help of puppets, music, and sound effects. His narration was very expressive that comprised of using his mouth, hands and legs. He improvised on his ability to narrate stories without any book by adapting the characters and plot according to the audience," principle Alice Vaz said.
