Having a Pooja Room in the house turns house into a home.

Some basic rules

In a small house where a separate pooja room is not possible, make a small temple in the northeast corner of the children's room or kitchen but not under the kitchen platform.Avoid having it in the bedroom

Try to have four elements of air, water, earth and fire -incense burning, a bowl of water, stone or clay murti / statues and a diya to represent fire. The fifth element --prana or space is you. Place the objects as per the direction of the five elements, with space in the middle, fire in southeast, air in the northwest, water in the northeast and earth in the southwest

The pooja room should be inside the house, ground floor is always better than the basement or the first floor

Toilets should not be in its vicinity

One should avoid using pooja room for any other purpose like a store room

The idols should be no taller than the worshipper's chest level Idols should not be kept facing each other, any chipped or broken statues should be removed immediately.
