Criteria for physical handicapped candidates in bank

The bank has reservations for PH category candidates. I have seen these reservations for many JMG-1 scale (which includes the post of Probationary Officer) posts in banks.

The no. of seats reserved (if any) for such candidates is specified in all notifications of recruitment by banks. Furthermore, all notifications specify the no. of sets reserved against all categories of disability separately (for example, Orthopedically Challenged -10 seats; Hearing Impaired- 15 seats; Visually impaired-20 seats).

Reservations are there for candidates suffering from:

Blindness

Persons with Hearing Impairment

Locomotor Disability

Cerebral Palsy

A certificate has to be produced stating the nature and extent of disability. The extent of disability is defined in percentage terms. Persons with less than 40% of any particular disability are not eligible for reservation. The certificate is issued by a Medical Board at the District level consisting of:

Chief Medical Officer

Sub-Divisional Medical Officer in the District

And:

A specialist in Orthopedics (for locomotor disability)

or, a specialist in ENT (for cerebral palsy or hearing impairment)

or, a specialist in Ophthalmology (for blindness)

Exam fees for such candidates is usually 25% of the exam fees of "Unreserved" category candidates. Thus in case of banks, it is generally Rs. 50 for PC/PH category candidates. However, this may vary from bank to bank. The no. of reserved seats and exam fees is different for different recruitment drives, so kindly check the exam notification before applying.

Hope this helps :)

Thanks and regards,
