The astonishing potential of No. 10
At 10.10am tomorrow, be sure to plan an auspicious good deed
After an interval of almost 1000 years, the entire world will experiencing a unique moment at 10.10 am at tomorrow. People from all over the world will try to capture this memorable moment by doing something special.
Senior citizens want youngsters to enjoy this event, since the occasion is considered very auspicious according to some customs.
In fact, Indian culture has been always been fascinated by the digit 10 and some feel this opportunity can be used to further a social cause. There are ten scriptures (Dashgranth), ten incarnations of lord Vishnu and the number is connected to Indian culture in a unique way.
Moreover the occasion is not some Indian superstition. Former MediaCorp actress Jacelyn Tay is holding her wedding ceremony with businessman beau Brian Wong on October 10, many couples are planning to tie the knot on this day.
Similarly, some couples are eagerly hoping that their babies are born at this magical moment. Apart from this, some people may shave number 10/10 on their heads, some may tattoo it on their bodies, and some prefer to adopt a new resolve like quitting smoking on this day. However, all these western ideas don't represent any social cause, senior citizens feel that instead of imitating the West blindly, we should make this day memorable by doing at least one thing for the society. "This moment can be used for concentration of mind and determining good goals," said amateur astronomer DK Soman.
He added, "One can pledge to donate eyes and other body parts, pay fees of ten poor students, donate 10 different fruits to patients, planting ten trees. These can be of use to society and make the day memorable.
