Will brand Biharis as infiltrators, drive ’em out, threatens Raj

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray on Friday threatened to brand Biharis as “infiltrators” and force them out of Maharashtra if authorities in Bihar take legal action against the Mumbai policemen who picked up a teenager from there in connection with the August 11 Azad Maidan riots without informing their counterparts in that state.
Raj Thackeray, whose party has often launched violent campaigns against Hindi-speaking people in Maharashtra, objected to a letter written by Bihar chief secretary to the state government warning it to lodge cases against the Mumbai policemen.
“If the Bihar government dared to take action against the Mumbai police officers, every Bihari living in Maharashtra will be branded as ‘infiltrator’ and they will thrown out of the state, ” Raj said in a convention of party office-bearers at Ravindra Natya Mandir in Prabhadevi on Friday.
Citing a news report in DNA, Thackeray said the letter was sent to the Maharashtra government. “The CS has warned the Mumbai Police to take prior permission of the Bihar government before taking action against the criminals,” he added. Thackeray questioned the Bihar government that how can it stop Mumbai police from entering there when the people from Bihar freely enter Maharashtra.
