Quick Overview
The need for a book exclusively designed to meet the needs of Indian physicians was dire, and it was at such a time that author wrote the first edition of Modern Medical Toxicology, taking great care to incorporate only information that was current and practically useful. In order to make it interesting to medical students, author had included a number of case histories, anecdotes and quotations. But, over a period of time, author realised that the information content with regard to toxicology for medicos had improved considerably in recent textbooks of forensic medicine (a possible, positive fallout of MMT), and the focus, therefore, should shift exclusively to physicians.
Target Audience
General Physicians, Emergency Physicians, Critical Care Specialists, Intensivists, Paediatricians, Clinical Pharmacologists, Forensic Medical Experts and Toxicologists.

Lata Mangeshkar Singer

Voice of the Nation

Lata Mangeshkar

Singer

Her melodious voice captured the hearts and imagination of millions of music aficionados. Hailed as the Nightingale of India, the songstress once famously moved prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru to tears with her rendition of ‘Aye mere watan ke logon’. Having lent her voice to actresses from Vyjayanthimala to Kareena Kapoor, the legend's contribution to Indian music has been phenomenal.

Raj Thackeray Maharashtra Navnirman Sena president

The Challenger
Raj Thackeray
Maharashtra Navnirman Sena president
Despite losing out to estranged cousin Uddhav in the race to control Mumbai after his party put up a poorer performance than expected in the civic elections earlier this year, Raj Thackeray retains most of his appeal in his target constituency — youth and women. Raj is said to be banking on his charisma to get the loyal Sena voters to migrate to his party in the post-Bal Thackeray era. He has strong ideas and ideals when it comes to his beloved state of Maharashtra. And he is not afraid to stick by them in trying to make a bid for the reins of the state.

BAL And Uddhav Thackeray Shiv Sena president, executive president

Tiger and Cub
BAL And Uddhav Thackeray
Shiv Sena president, executive president
The cartoonist turned demagogue reaffirmed his almost talismanic appeal over his vote base after his Shiv Sena-led alliance recaptured power in Mumbai’s civic body, the richest in India. For son and political heir Uddhav, this came as a breather after the unfortunate showing in the Lok Sabha and state assembly polls. It also tightened his hold over the party, one of the few forces that can still bring the metropolis to a standstill with its sheer street power. Uddhav is seen as the man who can ‘secularise’ the Sena.

Sunil Gavaskar Former cricketer, pundit

Straight Driver
Sunil Gavaskar
Former cricketer, pundit
Better known as ‘Sunny’, Gavaskar is regarded as one of cricket’s greatest opening batsmen. He may have set world records on the pitch, but he is also known to set the record straight in front of the cameras. The philanthropist was recently in the headlines for criticising the BCCI for its decision to resume bilateral cricket ties with Pakistan — a move that earned him praise from Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray and set political tongues wagging.

DP Mhaiskar Chairman, MEP Infrastructure

Infra Visionary

DP Mhaiskar

Chairman, MEP Infrastructure

As founder and chief mentor of Ideal Road Builders (IRB), DP Mhaiskar was one of the first to be awarded a toll-collection contract. In 1995, when the government privatised the road sector, IRB entered a brand new arena of build-operate-transfer (BOT) projects with the Thane-Bhiwandi Bypass Phase I which was completed ahead of time. With his son Jayant, Mhaiskar has built and maintained many prestigious BOT projects in and around Mumbai. Chairing MEP Infrastructure Developers Pvt Ltd, which operates across 10 states in India and contributes to almost 33% of NHAI's pan-India revenue, Mhaiskar could well be called a true visionary in Indian infrastructure.
