Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray, who was hospitalised after complaining of acute constipation, breathlessness and inflammation of the body, is stable and will be discharged in three to four days, said doctors treating him at Lilavati hospital. Bal Thackeray was hospitalised a day after Shiv Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray was discharged from Lilavati hospital after undergoing a successful angioplasty for multiple blockage of arteries on Monday. According to sources, Thackeray senior had been feeling unwell since Monday morning. Sena sources said that he had lately been worried about his son’s health, which could have affected his own health. Hospital sources claimed that he is presently undergoing several diagnostic scans and tests to confirm whether the medicines are working on him. Dr Jalil Parkar, the family doctor, said, “He is doing fine and will be discharged in three to four days.” Earlier in May 2012, Bal Thackeray was admitted to Lilavati hospital after complaining of discomfort, and was discharged two days later. In March 2010, he underwent a minor laser eye surgery at JJ Hospital, Byculla. Prior to that, Thackeray senior had undergone a heart bypass surgery in the mid-1990s at Hinduja Hospital, Mahim. A few years thereafter, he was diagnosed with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), a condition in which the airways in the lungs become so narrow that the flow of air is limited. Despite reports of minor ailments, Thackeray wasn’t hospitalised for long spells, except for his angioplasty in 2009 at Lilavati hospital.
