Times Literary Carnival is back
Featuring acclaimed authors, musical geniuses and Bollywood stalwarts, the second edition of the fest is going to focus on the quintessential Mumbai
Starting today, Bandra’s Mehboob Studio is going to become a hotbed of stimulating debates, spell-binding performances and special talks featuring select names from across creative fields at the second edition of the Times Literary Carnival. Mumbai’s very own literary festival will offer all literature lovers an opportunity to interact with renowned contemporary writers from around the world and also immerse themselves in linguistics pleasures.
This year, the festival is going to be more quintessentially Mumbai than before. Many of the panel discussions will revolve around the theme of ‘The City, Greed, and the Pursuit of Happiness’, with ‘Money in Black’, ‘Sabse Bada Rupaiah’, ‘The Underworld is now Above Board’, ‘Terrorism and the Money trail’ and ‘Money Makes the World Go Round’ being some of the topics which will be discussed. The idea is to highlight issues such as compromise, corruption, the McMafia, luxury and how writers explore these compelling themes against the backdrop of Mumbai. Among the highlights of this year’s festival is a discussion featuring Booker Prize winner Kiran Desai along with her mother Anita Desai. The festival, for the first time, will also have an exclusive screening of Deepa Mehta’s The Midnight Children.
