Job seekers can rejoice. The economic upheavals notwithstanding, hiring is going to continue in a robust manner in the first three months of the New Year, says an employment survey.
The global study by recruitment firm Manpower, carried among 4,556 employers in India, said hiring sentiment is positive across seven sectors. Indian employers, the survey said, are the most optimistic among peers in 41 countries.
India has a net employment outlook of 41%, with the services sector reporting the highest at 49%. Net employment outlook is the difference between employers anticipating jobs to rise and those expecting a fall. In other words, four to five out of every 10 employers in India intend to hire in the first quarter of 2012.
“Hiring plans are bouncing back after a decline in the final quarter of 2011,” said Sanjay Pandit, managing director, Manpower India.
The survey shows that hiring intentions in the North, South, East and West will improve when compared with the previous quarter. The net employment outlook in the South, East and West is 44%, with North trailing slightly at 40%.
“North has various industries. So the positive impact of one sector gets averaged by the not-so-good impact of others. However, in the South, the IT sector is dominant,” said Sunil Goel, director of search firm GlobalHunt, adding that till now the impact on the technology sector has been positive, thanks to the rupee depreciating against the dollar.
Campuses are also seen reflecting this optimism, with placements rolling out smoothly.
