Cops claim the two latest arrests are big as they link Azad Maidan incident to Myanmar

With the arrest of two more persons in the last 48 hours, the total number of people arrested in the August 11 Azad Maidan riots case has gone up to 63. The Mumbai Police Crime Branch has claimed that
the two are big catches .
These arrests assume significance as one of them had made calls to Myanmar before and after the riots. The rally was organised by Muslim leaders in protest against the violence in Assam and Myanmar. The other person was allegedly one of the main conspirators of the riots. Their interrogation can throw more light on the case, police sources said.
According to sources, 25-year-old Yusuf Ahmed Hussain Khan had recently come under the police scanner. They refused to divulge information about where he was arrested from.
“As per our investigations, Yusuf was part of the mob that participated in the violence. Yusuf had called some people in Myanmar before and after the riots. Since the protest was organised to raise concern over the violence in Myanmar and Assam, we are investigating who were in touch with Yusuf,” a source said.
Sayyed Salim Anwar Pasha alias Salim Lightwata, 40, is the 63rd person to be arrested in the case. On receiving information that, Salim, a resident of Mysore was involved in the case, a police team nabbed him from Mysore on October 19 with the help of local police.
“Salim and his men were involved in the conspiracy as per our investigations. The duo will be under police custody till October 25 and we hope to gather more information from them,” said the officer.
