In his new assignment as MD of Haryana Seeds Development Corporation, he says that he is exhausted

CHANDIGARH: A day after hectic interactions with the media, dissecting the Robert VadraDLF land deal, Haryana cadre IAS officer Ashok Khemka had a quiet day in his new assignment as managing director of Haryana Seeds Development Corporation on Wednesday.
Khemka politely kept a battery of mediapersons at bay, saying he was “too exhausted to go through the same long and complicated procedure”. The 1991batch IAS officer could not, however, turn down an interview request from a Washington Post journalist, who spoke to him at his new office in Panchkula.
Khemka’s reputation — forged on the basis of having seen 40 transfers in his 21-year career — seemed to have preceded his arrival at his new office. Employees of the relatively small corporation were on their toes and businesslike.
Most of the department’s employees already know Khemka’s style of functioning.

They have seen him in action during his stint with Haryana Warehousing, which functions from the adjoining building.
Khemka was transferred from the consolidation of holdings and land records department on October 11, hours after he launched a probe into Vadra’s land deals in the state.
Before relinquishing charge on October 15, he cancelled the mutation of a prime plot in Gurgaon sold by Vadra to DLF. Khemka was supposed to meet state chief secretary PK Chaudhery during the day to air his grievance over frequent transfers, but the meeting was rescheduled for Thursday.
Chaudhery, who had given Khemka time for a personal hearing, had to rush to Jind to be with members of a Parliamentary panel who arrived to talk to victims of a spate of rapes in the state.
