With most spending an enormous amount of money to get their home designed exquisitely, people believe that they should not miss out on getting a designer name plate. While there are some who choose name plates which are put on display at stores, a few others prefer getting them customised according to their door size. Nerul resident, Ekta Bhakshi decided to get a name plate customised for their renovated home. “We had been on the lookout for an ideal nameplate for many months. Finally when my husband went to Kerala for some official work, he came across a really unique name plate and decided to buy it. It’s apt for our door,” said Bhakshi. At most stores name plates start from Rs1,600. Stores too have started understanding customer’s requirements so they keep various samples ready from which people come and select the best suited one for their home. Seawoods resident Surubhi Angoankar said, “I had seen a really well-carved name plate at Karigar store in a mall just few days ago. It had a designer touch to it in an ethnic way. I may soon buy it.” She further added, “A nameplate is a thing which needs to have a personal touch to it and hence I feel everyone in the family should give their suggestions on how they would like it to be.” Wooden, glass and metal name plates are in demand. However, some do not prefer to buy the glass nameplate because these are not long-lasting and are extremely heavy. The Bombay Store in Vashi has a range of aesthetically designed name plates with artistic writing styles on them. These begin from Rs1,550. The store has even kept in mind the religious sentiments of people and hence has name plates with miniature portraits of God’s on them. Kharghar resident Shilpi Mehta considers this to be a good idea. She says that having a miniature of a Ganpati or Lakshmiji on the name plate can make it look beautiful besides it reflecting your religious nature as well. But then again that’s on each one’s personal choice. Airoli resident Anish Raman said that one needs to choose a name plate very carefully for their home. “We had purchased a fancy name plate few years ago. However, since it was based on metal, it lost its shine after a certain period of time.
