Go from flab to fab in ten days

Go from flab to fab in ten days

The time to indulge is over. You had gorged on yummy mithais and spicy food and gave your diet a miss for Ganpati festivities, but now its time to get fit for Navratri. After all, you don’t want those love handles and belly fat peeping from your chaniya choli. With hardly 10 days left, you have to start getting rid of the flab now.
First, trade those boxes filled with ladoos, kaju katli, shankarpali and modaks for some diet chivdas, whole grain biscuits and khakras. Of course, add in some fruits and vegetables too for a clearer and hydrated complexion.
A combination of exercise and healthy eating can be good to lose those extra pounds. Hitting the gym is a good option, but results are slow. So the best thing now is to continue your usual workouts and keep a tab on your calorie intake.
“There are many girls and boys who join the gym just before the festive season. Toning up is a task and one cannot lose a lot of weight so fast. For quick results, girls can do cardio exercises and boys can go for weight training,” said Monica Surve, fitness trainer at Polygon Gym & Fitness Studio, Pokhran road No. 2.
Cardio exercises like brisk walking and running, having a low-calorie diet and drinking a lot of water work wonders for the body. Doing elliptical exercises for 15 minutes will tone up your body. Mat exercises like ab crunches and lunges are quite effective too. In fact, these can be done at home.
Suraj Ambapkar, business development manager at Gravity Fitness, Hiranandani Estate, feels that if youngsters go to the gym or exercise regularly, indulgence during the festive season should be fine.
“Earlier, youngsters hit the gym only during the festive season or if there is a family function. But this trend is changing. Young boys and girls are now aware of the importance of being fit and exercising throughout the year.”
Along with exercisies, diet is very important. Reduce consumption of oil, salt and sweets and include protein-rich food in your diet. Any workout without a diet plan is of no use.
In fact, body massages once a week will relax and tone up the body too.
