Who serviced misplaced pistol for 30 yrs? Varsha Bhosle suicide

Who serviced misplaced pistol for 30 yrs?
Varsha Bhosle suicide

Did the Belgian-make 0.6 calibre pistol indeed belong to singer Asha Bhosle? This question is plaguing the Gamdevi police, who are investigating into the suicide of the singer's daughter Varsha Bhosle.
Varsha, 56, shot herself dead with the pistol at her mother's flat in Prabhu Kunj at Peddar Road on Monday.
Asha, who kept breaking down while giving her statement to the police on Tuesday, said she had misplaced the gun three decades ago and hasn't been able to trace it since.
But if the pistol was Asha’s, many questions arise.
According to ballistic experts, every weapon, whether Indian or imported, has to be serviced at least once a year so that it does not rust or get jammed. So, if Varsha had been maintaining the weapon since the time her mother misplaced it, was she getting it serviced?
The police also said that the pistol was a "complicated one". “Unless a person knows how to operate the weapon properly, it is difficult to use it,” said a police officer.
The police will now take help of the arms department to ascertain whether Asha has a weapon registered on her name and if so, then does it matches the one used by Varsha. When asked if the singer had registered a complaint about the missing pistol after she had misplaced it, a police officer said, “We are probing into that.”
The police are still recording the statements of the family members and Varsha's close associates. Anand, Varsha’s younger brother, is yet to return to the city.
Vijay Nakashe, Varsha's driver, was the last person who saw her alive when he hand over the car keys on Sunday night.
He told the police that she had seemed "absolutely normal". The police are also trying to get the phone records of her landline number to check who she last spoke to last as it might help them in ascertaining the exact motive that compelled Varsha to take the drastic step.
Family members and friends said Varsha had attempted suicide twice — in 1998, soon after her divorce, and in 2008. On both occasions, she had taken sleeping pills. Police sources, however, said she had attempted suicide in 2010 as well.
The police said Varsha divorced her husband Hemant Kenre in 1998 and had been in depression since. She was undergoing treatment.
