NE students trust Mumbai

The issue of illegal migration from Bangladesh had effects on distant states like Karnataka and Maharashtra. Amid rumours of Muslim groups allegedly planning their revenge after Ramzan, the northeast students began fleeing from their colleges in Bangalore and Pune. The University of Mumbai and its affiliated colleges took measures immediately to counsel all NE students. Vice Chancellor Rajan Welukar and higher and technical education minster Rajesh Tope visited hostels last week to meet all these students. They assured them that they were safe in Mumbai. Following this, students of the NE states studying in Mumbai actually stayed back, although some of them did not attend classes for few days as per their parents’ instructions. Some confessed that Mumbai was indeed the safest place to be in the country.
