Paithani revamped. What a facelift for a 3000 year old weave!

lingering winter nip and freshness of spring in the air seemed to be a
perfect time to seal the blooming love between Harshita Chatterjee and
Aditya Deshpande - at their dream wedding that spelt elegance, class and
style.

Flanked by friends and family, this wedding witnessed an interesting
mix of Maharashtrian and Bengali flavour. While the groom's side was
decked up in a traditional Maharashtrian avatar complete with the nine
yard saris and naths, the bride's family was seen donning the typical
Bong look in their Bengal silks.
As cameras kept clicking away, the couple was exchanging loving glances and sweet nothings!
Glitz n'glam
The do was sprinkled with a glittering star presence with personalities from Bollywood, Tollywood and Marathi film industry attending the do.
Poonam Dhillon walked in looking gorgeous in her magenta and blue chiffon sari, singer Abhijeet made a dashing entry with his wife and sons as did Roop Kumar Rathod with his pretty wife Sunali. Mahesh Manjrekar's red ochre silk dhoti-kurta was being complimented by many.
Standing out in the crowd was Bengali tele-actress Anindita Bose who had flown in all the way from Kolkata for the do. A rare sight for everyone was when politico Sharad Pawar walked in with his wife Pratibha. The couple was spotted sharing some light moments with quite a few guests.
Shinin' on
Other prominent Puneites who were seen having a good time on the occasion were Vidya Yeravdekar, Shravan and Manisha Agarwal, Neelam and Anil Seoleker, Vitthal Maniar, Satish Magar, Shrinivas Patil, Ishwarchand Goyal, Jayant Shah, Kishor and Bharati Pate.
Hearty conversations and jokes were overheard among the guests who were seen mingling with each other over the fine array of multi-cuisine that was laid out tastefully.
The Kashmiri kahwa was among the most savoured food items.
Harshita Chatterjee Deshpande’s debut collection called “Ragas of the Charioteer” inspired by Maratha warrior princesses, was a brave, bold and traditionally re-vamped line, which graced the runway at the Tata Nano Talent Box during Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2013.

HARSHITAA CHATTERJEE DESHPANDE DISPLAYED HER VERSATILE COLLECTION
Harshita Chatterjee Deshpande’s debut collection called “Ragas of the Charioteer” inspired by Maratha warrior princesses, was a brave, bold and traditionally re-vamped line, which graced the runway at the Tata Nano Talent Box during Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2013.
The
show began with beauty queen/model/Bollywood star Esha Gupta, Miss India 2007 gliding
down the runway, wearing a white, layered, angelic, full-sleeved gown as she
held a sword.
Inspired
by the detailing and richness of Indian textile and garment craftsmanship, the
designer worked with tribal weavers of Paithani to better give her collection
an authentic touch, which was once prized by the Marathas.
In
shades such as vine green, white, cream, orange and ink blue, each piece was
crafted in exquisite materials developed from a new kind of weave created by
merging yarns of Tussar from Bengal onto the looms of the traditional craftsmen
of Paithan, which resulted in a matt, subtle yet striking fabric.
Structured
waistcoats, jackets, dhoti pants, sari-like dresses, blouses and trousers made
their way onto the runway, flaunting vibrant prints of peacocks and flowers,
experimental bold cuts and layers for a unique touch.
Heavily
beaded blouses, waists and shoulders gave this collection a warrior-like
appeal.
The
showstopper was none other than cinema actress Sonali Bendre who walked the
ramp in a red lehenga heavily adorned with stones and gold beads which emulated
royalty, luxury and richness.
Dramatic
yet balanced in form and grace, Harshita Chatterjee Deshpande’s collection was
a passionate and artistic representation of the spirit that lies within every
Indian woman.
