In 2000, Jack Welch, then CEO of American multinational corporation
General Electric, ordered senior executives to learn how to use the
internet effectively with the help of their juniors.
This move by the celebrated business leader is considered the
birth of reverse mentoring, where a junior employee is paired with a
senior, whom he or she then ‘mentors’ in areas relating to technology,
social media, client-servicing etc.
