The Dev Anand I remember...

I am a great fan of Devananad  .legendry figure whose death brought an end of  an era.he is an epitome of romance, ever green actor with never die attitude

The Dev Anand, I remember, from my anthology on Indian cinema...

Dev Anand acted in his several hit movies under his own banner or for other independent producers. like Munimji, Taxi Driver, CID, Jewel Thief, Prem Pujari, Kala Bazar, Tere Mere Sapne, Kala Pani, etc. With his Khoya Khoya Chand in Kala Pani and moving his hands back and forth in a funny way became his mannerism and the staple diet of many a mimic art for years thereafter; sporting large-rimmed Mexican-style hats, garishly coloured, checked and big-collared shirts and a towel like scarf tied around and hanging loosely from his neck, wide belts and oversized buckles, which became fashionable and popular among the public, and rapid fire dialogue delivery, he set his own style statement and signature. Cavorting and romancing heroines half his age e.g. Hema and his discoveries, Zeenat Amen and Tina Munim, on screen of course, he remained very handsome and youthful for well over 3 decades and is the only evergreen Hero in Indian cinema.

And the most handsome male film hero in the annals of Hindi cinema? The award goes to Dev Anand, he towers head and shoulders over every one else in Indian cinema, not just Hindi. The Khans are all ersatz. I recommend you watch his old classics after the Hindi films went colour – Duniya, Jewel Thief, Johnny Mera Naam, Heerna Panna, Prem Pujari, Guide, Hare Rama Hare Krishna, Gambler, Tere Mere Sapne accentuated by some terrific playback singing by Kishore – in music channels like B4U, Music India, Masti and 9X that run a regular programme of such classics every day, and you will see why.

Had his own style.I consider him as ML.jaisimha  of Indian cinema.
