Engineering paper ‘goof-up’: Exam house to take a call

Engineering paper ‘goof-up’: Exam house to take a call
After being flooded with complaints about the Digital Signal and Image Processing (DSIP) paper, the University of Mumbai asked the computer engineering department chairman to relook into the paper.
On Thursday, a report was submitted to the exam house authorities of the university who will decide on the matter.
On Monday, after final-year computer engineering students appeared for the first paper of their semester VII examination of DSIP paper, they claimed that it did not adhere to a regular pattern which gave them little time to solve the questions. They also alleged that some questions were out of syllabus.
The review committee members denied students’ allegations that the questions were out of syllabus or the pattern was difficult. They admitted that a sum was not provided with the required data but all the colleges were asked to correct it.
“This is a final year paper and is mostly application-based. So the questions and the pattern can be tricky. But no question was out of syllabus,” said Prachi Gharpure, chairman of the computer engineering stream.
“There was a question for which there was not enough data to solve it. However, all exam centres were told to make the required changes as soon as the authorities noticed it. A report has been prepared and submitted to the authorities.”
After the paper, the final year computer engineering students started an online movement through Facebook voicing their comments about the paper.
