In city for job interview, man falls off train, dies

On Friday, a 22-year-old graduate from Jaipur, who had come to Mumbai for a job interview, fell off a running mail train and died.
“Nikhil Sharma’s body has been handed over to his maternal uncle Hitesh Solanki after the post-mortem,” said Shivaji Bhagal, senior police inspector of the Borlivli railway police station. They have registered a case of accidental death.
The incident took place at 3.45pm on Friday. Sharma was travelling in the sleeper coach of Gujarat Mail and was to get off at Borivli station, and head to his maternal uncle’s house. While the train was approaching Borivli, Sharma, who was standing near the door, lost his balance and fell out. The train stopped at Borivli station after a few minutes. The engine driver alerted the stationmaster who informed the Government Railway Police. An unconscious Sharma sustained severe head injuries and a broken leg. He was taken to Bhagwati Hospital, but declared dead before admission.
While checking his baggage, the police found his Jaipur address and phone numbers and informed his father Kishore Sharma in Jaipur.
